Odds as of Oct. 25 on the DraftKings Sportsbook app.
The highest total on the board on Wednesday is 236.5 in the Atlanta Hawks vs Charlotte Hornets matchup. The lowest is 218.5 in Pistons vs Heat.
Washington is currently getting the largest ATS in the NBA public betting trends, sitting at 84% of ATS handle as five-point underdogs at Indiana.
Boston Celtics vs New York Knicks
The Boston Celtics (57-25, 25-16 away last season) underwent one major change in the offseason, with longtime defensive stalwart Marcus Smart moving to Memphis and former Milwaukee guard Jrue Holiday entering Boston’s starting lineup at the one.
Holliday, without a doubt, makes Boston more dangerous at the offensive end. But their defense will take a step back and incorporating him into the starting lineup is unlikely to be a seamless process.
The New York Knicks, on the other hand, are basically running back the same team that went 47-35 (23-18 home) last year with a highly-respectable +2.9 point differential.
One of the most impressive parts of last year’s Knicks team was how it fared against the mighty Celtics. New York went 3-1 straight-up against Boston last season, winning the last three in the head-to-head series, including two in overtime.
Boston is a deserving top-three favorite in the NBA championship odds, but with New York sitting at +3.5 at home, there’s solid value on the Knicks to stay hot against their rivals from Beantown. (Betting the Knicks ATS is also fading the public, which in itself is a good thing more often than not. The public finished last season 15 games under .500 on its ATS picks and started 0-2 yesterday.)
Pick: Knicks +3.5 (-108)

Cleveland Cavaliers vs Brooklyn Nets Odds & Pick
The Cleveland Cavaliers (51-31, 20-21 away) are already banged-up on day one of their new season. Starting center and rebounding monster Jarrett Allen is out with an ankle injury while starting point guard Darius Garland is listed as day-to-day with a hamstring strain and is questionable to play tonight.
The Donovan Mitchell era in Cleveland started with a bang last year as Cleveland earned the #4 seed in the East, but that was largely on the strength of a 31-10 record at home. They were the only top-six seed in the East that actually had a losing record on the road (20-21).
The Nets (45-37, 23-18) never approached the heights expected from the Kevin Durant/Kyrie Irving era, but are in decent hands with Mikal Bridges now the core of the lineup. Bridges, who starts the season as the favorite in the NBA Most Improved Player odds, will have a healthy Ben Simmons running the point. The former #1-overall pick by the 76ers led the team in assists in all four preseason games while shooting an encouraging 57% from the free-throw line (which is indeed encouraging for a player who was under 50% in 2022-23).
Ranked as a top-25 defender in the NBA by SportingNews, if Simmons can be something other than a liability at the offensive end, Brooklyn has the horses to hang with the beasts of the East. Starting the year at home against an injured Cavs team that’s prone to ugly road performances, take the Nets to cover as one-point home underdogs.
Cavaliers vs Nets Pick: Nets +1 (-108)
