Inter Miami received a scare in Tokyo when Sergio Busquets had to withdraw midway through the first half of the game against Vissel Kobe after a blow to his ankle. AS understands that initial tests have ruled out serious damage to the player’s ankle, pending further tests.
“The injury did not appear to be serious before landing in Florida,” sources close to the club said. Busquets had some swelling in the area of the blow, but this is one of the usual after-effects of such a collision and the former Barcelona man is expected to undergo further tests over the weekend.
Tata Martino’s squad will have a couple of days rest before returning to training after being away from home for over 20 days. The match against Newell’s will be the team’s last test before the league opener against Real Salt Lake on 21 February. Until then, Busquets will be a doubt.
