Poirier vs McGregor to take place on Fight Island in January

Conor McGregor will come out of retirement next month at UFC 257, facing Dustin Poirier on Fight Island.

Conor McGregor’s UFC return will see him head to Fight Island to face Dustin Poirier.

The UFC confirmed in November the former two-weight champion would be coming out of retirement and re-entering the Octagon against Poirier in January.

A venue was not initially announced amid the coronavirus pandemic, although Fight Island – Yas Island, Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates – was mooted as a likely location.

Fight Island was used for the return of the sport in 2020 as covid-19 impacted its usual arenas.
