The New York Giants are almost out of the playoff picture and Dallas can compound their misery this Sunday…
A bye is always good for an NFL team to take a week off to recharge the batteries, heal up any war wounds and get ready for the grind again. With the 7-3 Dallas Cowboys coming back after their win in London two weeks ago, they couldn’t have hoped for a more feisty affair than a battle with their NFC East rivals the New York Giants.
The Giants have been erratic all season, flirting with success only to be going home with failure and a poor loss to the San Francisco 49ers last weekend all but killed their playoff hopes. They are beat up, quarterback Eli Manning is throwing too many interceptions and they can’t hold a lead with a distinctly average defence. Go for the Cowboys to win with the -3 handicap at 4/5, a well-rested team looking to take control of the division will walk over a poor Giants team.
In the earlier slate of games, the standout affair will be at Foxborough as the AFC-leading New England Patriots host the surprise package of the NFC, the Detroit Lions. The Pats have been sensational recently, a fit Rob Gronkowski mixed with an in-form Tom Brady and players even coming off the practice squad to make big plays, it looks all but certain that they will take home advantage in the AFC yet again this season.
The Lions have been very impressive, especially defensively, but their recent offensive issues will cost them any chance of victory in this one. Take the Patriots to win by at least 8 points at 91/100, they’ll be too much for the Lions to handle and as we all know, New England do not lose at home.
The last TV game this Sunday sees the Miami Dolphins take on the stuttering Denver Broncos. The Broncos have lost their two games, Peyton Manning has seen the talent around him go down and it came to a head in St Louis as they suffered a shock defeat to the Rams.
However, home comforts will be the remedy they need and despite the Dolphins getting themselves in the playoff mix, rumours are rife about players unhappy with their offensive game-plan and with them flying across the country to play at Mile High, there can only be one winner in this one. The Broncos are 29/100 to snap their losing streak and give their number one seed hopes a big boost.
